Doorways for Women and Families (Doorways) is an Arlington-based non-profit agency helping women and families create pathways out of domestic violence and homelessness leading to safe and stable lives. Doorways offers a positive work environment, a committed and passionate team, and competitive salaries and benefits.

Our Mission and Vision: We envision a community where all people live free of violence and have safe and stable housing. We see a future without homelessness – or domestic violence. And it’s why we create pathways out of domestic violence and homelessness toward safe and stable lives.

Our Values: At Doorways, we embrace Empathy, Integrity, Inclusivity, Collaboration, Empowerment, and Respect. These values are the foundation to our approach.

Our Approach: There is no single cause of family homelessness, and no single service that can help families overcome their barriers to independence. Family trauma impacts nearly every aspect of family functioning, so our services target to multiple life areas for adults and children. Doorways provides services that are comprehensive, family-centered and strength-based.

Position Summary: The Home Coordinator (HC) works as part of a team and independently to provide services to women and families who are homeless and living in Doorways’ Family Home or Domestic Violence Safehouse. The HC has primary responsibility for shelter coverage, crisis intervention, and oversight of daily shelter operations.

  • Family Home Evening Home Coordinator (Monday—Friday, 3pm-11pm)

The positions are full time, require on-call availability and are considered “essential” personnel in times of hardship, such as extreme weather conditions and/or other emergencies. Each home coordinator reports to the respective Program Director (Family Home or Domestic Violence Program).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1+ year experience in a social service organization, preferably working in a residential setting with women and children who have been abused and/or are homeless.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus
  • Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being willing to “roll up the sleeves” and get tasks done
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team
  • Must possess basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and the internet (Microsoft Suite)

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits – health/dental/vision, life, LTD, 403 (b), etc. prorated based upon percentage of time worked.
